Amy Winslow, President & CEO
Amy is a life sciences executive with two decades of experience in diagnostics, medical devices, and pharmaceutical services. Amy was named by Mass High Tech as one of the “2013 Women to Watch” which recognizes women in technology and life sciences who are go-getters, hardworking, inspirational and motivational to their peers.
Before joining Magellan in 2011, Amy founded and led MW Advisory, a strategy and marketing consulting firm serving fast growing companies in novel diagnostic and device markets. Earlier she spent five years as Vice President, Marketing for Athena Diagnostics, a $55 million reference laboratory specialized in the development and commercialization of novel neurodiagnostic testing services, now part of Quest Diagnostics. During her tenure at Athena, she built a marketing organization that drove sustained double-digit growth, and was a key member of the executive team where she was instrumental in the sale of Athena to Behrman Capital for $122M.
Amy began her career as a product manager at C.R. Bard and served as a Marketing Manager for Genzyme Transgenics. Amy holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in Biology from Brown University.
Hossein Maleknia, Chief Operating Officer
Hossein joined Magellan in January 2012, as Chief Operating Officer. Prior to taking on this role, he worked for ThermoFisher/Dionex and ESA Biosciences as General Manager and Director of Engineering, and as Vice President of Operations, from April 2007 through December 2011.
Earlier in his career, Hossein was the Director of Operations at Instrumentation Laboratory for 14 years, where he headed all instrument and sensor manufacturing operations, and led the consolidation of three International and US sites to Lexington, Massachusetts. He was also the Group Manager of Baxter MicroScan in Sacramento, California. Hossein earned his BS and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut.
Norman Sheppard, VP of Research & Development
Norm leads the R&D efforts of Magellan Diagnostics, focusing on both improvements to our commercialized technology and expansion of our platform to address new markets and analytes. Prior to joining Magellan, Norm was the Senior Director of Advanced Product Development at MicroCHIPs, a company that develops novel implantable drug delivery and biosensor systems.
Early in his career, Norm worked for Gamera Biosciences (acquired by Tecan), leading the development of point-of-care clinical diagnostic systems. He was also an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineer at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Norm has his PhD in Electrical Engineering from MIT, as well as an MS in Electrical Engineering and MS in Chemical Engineering Practice, also from MIT.
Robb Morse, Global Director of Marketing
Robb has 20 years of experience in the clinical diagnostics industry, and has been leading Magellan’s efforts in lead poisoning detection for a decade. Early in his tenure at Magellan, Robb was part of the team that developed the LeadCare® II Blood Lead Testing System, the first and only CLIA-waived device to test for lead at the point of care.
Prior to joining Magellan, Robb worked at Accumetrics, an interventional cardiology company based in San Diego, and at Xenometrix in Boulder, Colorado. Robb holds a BA degree in Biochemistry from Middlebury College and an MBA in Technology Management from the University of Phoenix.
Jennifer Zonderman, Director of Sales
Jennifer is an experienced sales executive with over 20 years of experience in the high tech industry and multichannel organizations. Before joining Magellan in 2014, she ran channel sales at Terascala, which offered big data support for hyper-fast applications like NexGen sequencing.
Throughout Jennifer’s sales career, she has held numerous sales management roles in leading edge technology organizations where customer care and communication have been key ingredients to success. These included Clearwell (now Symantec), Meridio (now HP Autonomy), PyroSequencing AB, and Segue Software (now Borland). Jennifer earned her American Chemical Society Certified BS in Chemistry from Alma College with a graduate certificate in Environmental Studies from Wayne State University.
Janine LeBlanc, Director of Finance
Janine is a finance and accounting executive with over 20 years’ experience in service and manufacturing industries, primarily focusing on life sciences.
Before joining Magellan Diagnostics in 2012, she was Director of Finance and Administration at Observant LLC, a pharmaceutical market research firm. She also served as Division Controller at a Charles River Laboratories pre-clinical CRO (formerly Primedica Corporation), where she helped lead the division to record growth and profitability.
Earlier in her career, Janine held assistant controller and accountant positions at Genzyme Transgenics, National Transaction Network and Clearpoint Research. Janine holds an MBA in finance from Bentley College and a BA in accounting from Bryant College.
